What’s happening with the real estate market in one of our local municipalities

Published June 20, 2026

Fergus Kyne is a local REALTOR®, the 2026 Chair of the Victoria Real Estate Board, and he has supported buyers and sellers with their property transactions in Sidney.

When asked what potential home buyers might find attractive about Sidney, Kyne notes the municipality’s “proximity to the airport, ferries and Gulf Island boating are all easily within reach. A vibrant summer market scene as well as many different types of housing and commerce serve the needs of a growing population both young and more established.”

Sidney is well recognized as a seaside town with ocean views to spare. At one time known as a haven for retirees, Kyne points to how Sidney has evolved to become a welcoming place for residents of all ages and interests.

“Sidney is quickly expanding its appeal from a beautiful place to retire—which it still most definitely is—into a beautiful full-service community to raise a family.”

Right now, there are 24 single family homes available for sale in the Sidney area, starting at just under $800,000 up to $4.5 million.

Townhomes are in the mix in Sidney as well, with nearly 20 for sale. Prices range from $600,000 up to just over $2 million.

Condos offer the most choice, with 27 currently for sale, starting at just under $350,000 up to $2.3 million.
