With a large variety of styles and neighbourhoods, the single family home market in the Greater Victoria area offers over 1,400 choices for sale this week.

Prices range from close to $400,000 all the way up to four properties that are listed at over $15 million. The median asking price is $1.325 million.

On offer are core-area character homes, tidy rural ranchers, houseboats, forested cabins, luxury oceanside estates, efficient new homes, and much more. Ranging from around 350 square feet to over 14,000 square feet, each property for sale offers its own unique features and space.

Approximately 100 listings come in at $750,000 or less, with around 270 listings between over $750,000 and $1 million.

Questions to ask your REALTOR® when you are considering buying a single family home:

  1. What is the property’s zoning? Does this conflict with how I intend to use my home?

  2. Is this a freehold, strata, or leasehold property? What does that mean to me as a potential owner?

  3. What are future plans for the neighbourhood in the Official Community Plan or otherwise?

  4. What services are provided by the municipality, and what will I have to manage on my own?

  5. Will this home work with my intended lifestyle?

  6. Are the boundaries of the lot defined and visible?

  7. Are there major renovations or repairs required to the home?
