Most properties sold in Victoria, BC are listed and sold on the Victoria Real Estate Board's Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®) system. The Board compiles and maintains detailed statistics on properties sold in the various districts that comprise Greater Victoria. These statistics include the number of sales, the total dollar volume, the average price, a six-month rolling average price and the median price.
The average price is simply the total dollar volume of properties sold divided by the number of sales; the six-month rolling average price takes into account the total dollar volume of properties sold during the last six-months, including the latest month for which figures are available, divided by the total number of sales during that period. The median price is the mid-range price between the least expensive and the most expensive property sold.
Each month, we calculate statistics on listings sold through MLS® during the previous month. You can view these current statistics and our accompanying news release here on our web site on the first working day of each month. The news release provides a summary of the market activity during the previous month including comment from the Victoria Real Estate Board President.
