18th Annual Commercial Building Awards
Sponsored by the Commercial Division of the Victoria Real Estate Board and the Times Colonist
The Commercial Division of the Victoria Real Estate Board today announced the winners of its 18th Annual Commercial Building Awards competition.
All projects were completed in the Capital Regional District between June 1, 2008 and May 31, 2009. Presentations were made at an Awards Luncheon at the Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort on November 27, 2009.
This year's competition judges were: Sasha Angus, Greater Victoria Development Agency; Peter Baillie, Times Colonist.; Keith Dagg, Keith Dagg Consulting; Lee King, Canada Mortgage and Housing; Bob Law, Colliers Macaulay Nicolls; Stephen Shea, Pemberton Holmes Ltd.; and Clive Townley, Pemberton Holmes Ltd.
Each year the judges look at the overall exterior design of each building or development project and how it fits into the surrounding area. They base their final decisions on projects that are sensitive to the environment, are aesthetically pleasing and answer a specific developmental need within the community.
A list of the Award winners is attached. The Times Colonist Community Building Award was presented to École John Stubbs Memorial School. The Judges Choice Award for overall excellence was awarded to Bard & Banker Public House. The Green Award sponsored by the Victoria Real Estate Board was handed out to Inspiration: Dockside Green.
Now in its 18th year, the Commercial Building Awards competition continues to be recognized among architects, builders, developers and the real estate community not only in Victoria but also across Canada, as a prestigious event dedicated to the advancement of excellence in construction and design.
