The Inner Harbour is the heart of Victoria, BC and, for many boaters, the gateway to the City of Gardens. As part of its commitment to giving back to the community, Victoria REALTORS® in partnership with Black Press (publisher of Real Estate Victoria) are proud to present the annual Classic Boat Festival®.
The festival is a celebration of our maritime heritage and is held every Labour Day weekend in Victoria's Inner Harbour. The festival attracts up to 100 classic sail and power vessels from all over the West Coast and beyond. Thousands of local residents and visitors alike come to the festival to enjoy the sites and sounds offered by this spectacular display of classic boats. There is no charge for spectators and many of the boaters hold “open boat” - allowing the public onboard to take a closer look at their vessels.
The highlight of the festival is the Sunday Sailpast, when all of the boats leave the Inner Harbour to take the Salute from the Honorary Commodore. On the Sunday afternoon, spectators can enjoy the annual Schooner Cup and Classic Open Sail races. On the Saturday afternoon, there is a Classic Rowing Regatta from 10a.m. until noon. The boats will launch from the Gorge Rowing and Paddling Club starting the race just before the Gorge Narrows and finishing at the Undersea Gardens. On Saturday afternoon, spectators can see the delightful parade of steamboats as they cruise the Gorge Waterway. The steamboats leave the Inner Harbour around 2 p.m.
